Summary

Harpenden Child Contact Centre (HCCC) is looking for a new Chairperson. We are a local Charity supporting children to have contact with their loved ones.

Detailed description

We are a small charity whose purpose is to facilitate and support contact between children and their parents or other family members from whom they are separated often due to family breakdown. Though based in Harpenden, HCCC often supports families from further afield.


This is a highly rewarding position and provides an opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families. 

 

Remuneration:  The role of Chair is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed.

 

Time commitment: 4 Committee Board meetings per year. The Chair is also expected to have regular meetings with the Administrators, and also to represent the Charity at various events and meetings with key stakeholders.

 

Reporting to: Trustees’ Committee

 

Job description

 

1.    Leading the Committee of Trustees

2.    Ensuring smooth running of Committee meetings

3.    Promoting good governance among fellow charity trustees

4.    Providing supervision and support to the administration team

5.    Acting as a figurehead or spokesperson where required

6.    Settling Committee Meeting agendas and chairing the meetings

7.    Appointing committee trustees in collaboration with the other trustees

8.    Where appropriate mediating issues between Committee members and HCCC volunteers

9.    Representing HCCC to outside parties in a professional manner

 

The above list is indicative only and not exhaustive. The Chair will be expected to perform all such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the role.
