The Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders

The Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders is a small, successful charity with a big impact. We are looking for a Trustee with HR experience to join our Board of Trustees. Trustees attend around six meetings a year and take responsibility for an area where they have expertise - in this case HR. Our mission is to support ex-offenders and those at risk of offending to make positive changes to their lives and to reduce the number of victims of crime. We see a world where those on the wrong side of the law have the chance to turn their lives around and to lead a life that fully contributes to the community. We have a good track record of achievement and are keen to expand our reach. Knowledge of the criminal justice system or experience working with ex-offenders or those at risk would be an advantage, as would an understanding of the third sector.

Role Description

The principal duties are:

To help set the strategic direction of HACRO and to monitor and measure the implementation of this strategy

To support the achievement of HACRO’s aims and objectives

To ensure that HACRO applies the highest standards of governance and safeguarding to its operations

To provide HR Advice to the Board and senior leadership, helping to shape our people strategy and keep HACRO compliant with employment law

To ensure that processes are in place to recruit and retain staff with the required skills, capabilities, and values to deliver high quality, safe, personalised and progressive services to the people we support

To actively promote the work of HACRO and to act as an ambassador for the charity

To support bid writing, where appropriate
