Purpose of the role:

Hacro Turnaround project deals with the barriers that stop disadvantaged adults getting into work and HACRO supports those participants who have criminal records. We offer many avenues into volunteering including supporting on activities, supporting the Turnaround mentors with participant needs and supporting the taught courses including Literacy

What you will be doing:

The volunteer will work as part of a team assisting the above. The volunteer will work at one of the projects run by HACRO; for example, the carpentry, boxing or music studio project, classroom based courses and 1:1 literacy

The role will include:-

• interacting with the participants on the project and helping where required;
• supporting the mentors with any paperwork that may be required;
• helping the mentors identify and research relevant training courses for participants;
• assisting the participants in applying for employment opportunities;
• helping the participants with their reading skills following the Shannon Trust Turning Pages programme.
• may be required to shadow mentors doing 1:1 work with participants on occasion.

Skills, experience and qualities needed:

The volunteer needs to:

• be willing to undertake any training required;
• attend the project on time and notify the project leader if they are running late or unable to attend;
• work as part of a team; and
• be personable and friendly.
