Summary
Are you keen to visit or be in gardens? Enhance your skills and support us by joining our growing gardening team
Detailed description
We are delighted that our gardens offer joy to patients, families staff and visitors all year round. Working alongside our head gardener, our volunteers play a key role in the upkeep and development of the garden and surrounding areas. This is a role for those who love being outdoors in nature and have a little gardening knowledge which we can build on.
What you’ll get from joining the gardening team
This is a chance to share your love of gardening with like-minded people, using your passion and creativity to support the development of our outdoor spaces together. As a key team member, you’ll share and build some valuable skills and knowledge about gardening whilst giving back to your community.
Opportunities on offer
Our gardening volunteers will have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of roles including:
- General tidying and garden maintenance
- Taking cuttings, setting seeds, planning and pruning
- Developing new projects
- Enjoying the developing seasons together
We offer four-hour shifts across the week from Monday to Thursday – we all rest on Fridays and weekends, making time for our own gardens. Bring sturdy footwear and garden gloves and we’ll provide the rest.
Support you will receive
We are committed to supporting your development as a successful gardening team member. Support includes:
· induction, training and regular reviews to ensure you are confident in your role
· the opportunity to attend diverse hospice-based or online courses such as meditation
What we will provide to volunteers
💸 Reimbursement of costs
