At Everyone Active, we believe that wellbeing goes far beyond the gym. That's why we've introduced our volunteer-led community gardening sessions, creating welcoming outdoor spaces where people can enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of gardening.
These sessions provide opportunities for people who may not have access to a garden of their own, including those living in flats or waiting for an allotment. Gardening is a fantastic way to stay active, improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and connect with others in the local community.
The impact extends even further. All fruit, vegetables and produce grown within the garden are donated to Stevenage food bank, Feed Up Warm Up, helping to support local families while reducing food waste. By volunteering, you'll be making a real difference to both people and the community around you.
The Role
We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers with some gardening experience to help maintain our community garden and lead friendly, inclusive gardening sessions for local residents.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Planting, watering and weeding
- General maintenance and upkeep of the garden
- Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants
- Hosting a relaxed gardening session lasting 1–2 hours (ideally once a week)
- Encouraging members of the public to get involved, learn new skills and enjoy the space
Sessions can take place Monday to Friday, either morning or afternoon, depending on your availability.
