We are looking for someone who can help us with the coordination of volunteering and volunteers on behalf of EcoBerko in Berkhamsted.

  • Promote volunteering for EcoBerko through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns, working with our Comms Group to achieve this.
  • Raise awareness across those already working with EcoBerko on how volunteers are contributing, how best to support them, people giving talks & speaking on behalf of EB need to know about our volunteering process & needs.
  • Liaise with projects within EcoBerko to assess volunteer needs.
  • Generate volunteering role descriptions for EcoBerko.
  • Recruit and interview volunteers and ensure they are appropriately placed and supported, including inducting people quickly to get them volunteering.
  • Carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.
  • Organise rotas and provide inductions and training, as well as debrief interviews for departing volunteers.
  • Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments
  • Celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and organise celebration events.
  • Offer advice and information to volunteers through face-to-face, telephone and email contact.
  • Be adaptable in approach for the application process.
  • Consider buddying up and training.
  • Ensure comms with new and existing volunteers are effective, supportive, regular and frequent.
  • Be the named contact, with the option to text/WhatsApp.
