By volunteering with us you will be meeting new people, learning new skills and developing existing ones, and contributing to the enjoyment of the clients day.

Douglas Drive is a day centre for the elderly of Stevenage and surrounding villages.

Volunteers play a huge part in delivering the service we provide. By including volunteers in our sessions, we can offer additional individual support to those that may require it to enjoy and participate in the activities of the day. Volunteers are welcomed to our service on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Sessions run from 10.00 until 2.00.

Volunteer hours required at Douglas Drive are from 9.30am until 2.30pm, however we are flexible with timing.

If you are unable to cover a whole session you may wish to offer a regular 2 to 3 hours, you may also wish to be placed on a volunteer reserves list to be called upon as and when required.

Volunteer Duties involve assisting with the activities, providing refreshments, handing out lunch time meals, engaging and communicating with the clients, settling clients in on arrival and helping them get ready to leave for home at the end of the session. Other duties may involve assistance with set up and clear down

We are unable to pay volunteer travel expenses; however, we do provide a free meal to those volunteers that stay for the whole session. 9.30 - 2.30pm. Free Tea, coffee and cold drinks are available to all.

If you think that this volunteering opportunity would suit you then we would be happy to hear from you to discuss the opportunity further.
