Summary

To enable artists to improve and grow in their respective fields, which includes crafts and jewellery as well as 2D art (i.e. paintings and drawings).

Detailed description

To represent HVAF in various Forums, to assist in finding sponsors for events, to chair meetings of the Organising Group (held monthly, via zoom with a face-to-face meeting once a quarter, usually in a pub). The organising group consists of 9 Area Coordinators, the membership secretary, treasurer and Chair.

BEING AN ARTIST IS NOT A REQUIREMENT! We need someone with an appreciation of the arts and a sound business background to identify funding and sponsorship sources. Organising and delegating skills are also key as we recognise that the membership will need to carry out the tasks that the chair identifies. Currently we have three big events a year – A Big Art Fair in Hitchin in July, a Makers Fair in East Herts in the Autumn and Open Studios in September. This year we added an Art Fair in Berkhamsted and we would like to extend this by having an art fair in at least one other area. We think this role would suit a person who either has retired from a senior business role and would like to stay active or someone who works part-time at a senior level and has some capacity for an additional role.

Whilst we would value input from the world of business, a volunteer Chair could gain an insight into the world of creativity and be at the start of a new direction for this organisation. Our events are fun – with plenty to look at! – and you meet interesting people.
