Would you like to utilise your skills, learn new skills, gain experience in the workplace or develop your knowledge in a specific area? Perhaps you want to meet new people or are driven to make a difference to vulnerable people’s lives?
We offer our volunteers all this and more!
We are looking for people who can volunteer from home on a Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday for six to eight hours per week. You can volunteer for part of a day, one day a week or all three days, depending on your availability. We are totally flexible.
When you apply we can discuss what you hope to gain from volunteering, your interests and skills and the time you have available. Together we can explore which roles might be most suitable for you.
At present, we are particularly keen to hear from people who have administration skills.
Role Overview: complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role● support the Advice Session Supervisors with their administration tasks● send appointment reminders to clients by phone, text or email ● make referrals to external organisations for food or fuel vouchers and grants● pick up inbound referrals to the service and add to the advice task list ● pick up voicemail messages from clients and add to the advice task list ● update service delivery spreadsheets including the Advice Service Rota, Supervisor Log, Hub Booking sheets and Contact Centre rotas ● send case notes to solicitors for appointments with our clients
- Requirements: You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to: be friendly, patient and approachable.
- to be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
- have good listening skills
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills competent numeracy skills and IT proficient be able to understand information and explain it to others
- be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role
