Support the day-to-day running of the Prehistory Centre by welcoming visitors, sharing insights about our collection, and ensuring our visitors are engaged.

About the Role: Support the day-to-day running of the Prehistory Centre by welcoming visitors, sharing insights about our collection, and ensuring our visitors are engaged. As a Visitor Experience Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in bringing history to life for our guests. 


Key Responsibilities:

● Welcome and engage with visitors to create a memorable experience

● Provide information about the Stone to Iron Age exhibition, Prehistory Centre layout, and educational purpose

● Maintain a tidy, accessible, and welcoming environment within the Centre

● Take money for shop purchases

● Assist with events and activities hosted within the Prehistory Centre

● During quiet times help with resource prep, such as preparation of craft materials including cordage and paper, assembling headbands and bracelets, and simple cutting, tying, measuring, and packing tasks

● Ensure the safety and security of our visitors and the collection

● Support other duties in line with day-to-day visitor operations 


Person Profile We’re looking for someone who is:

● Passionate about history, education, and engaging with the public

● Friendly, confident, and enjoys speaking with people from all walks of life

● Organised and proactive in keeping spaces presentable

● Practical, methodical, and comfortable with repetitive tasks

● Reliable and adaptable to the needs of the day

● Able to work independently

● Able to travel to our woodland site in Brickendon
