Support a purpose-driven charity dedicated to preserving Britain’s prehistoric heritage by helping conserve and restore the ancient woodland and buildings.

About the Role

Be part of our friendly conservation team and help care for Celtic Harmony Camp, an award-winning heritage site surrounded by ancient Hertfordshire woodland.

As a Conservation Volunteer, you’ll work alongside volunteers and Educators to care for the site, support local biodiversity and gain practical conservation and traditional skills. This is a varied, hands-on role in a natural environment, with activities ranging from woodland management and habitat restoration to wattle fencing, herb garden maintenance and wildlife-friendly projects.

Activities include:

  • Woodland management and habitat restoration
  • Wattle fencing, coppicing and footpath maintenance
  • Herb garden and vegetation management
  • Wildlife projects such as dead-hedging and bug hotels
  • Preparing resources for school activities
  • Other practical conservation tasks across the site

Person Profile

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic about nature, heritage and environmental conservation
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and in changing weather conditions
  • Hands-on, practical and eager to learn new and traditional skills
  • Reliable, friendly and team-minded
  • Keen to learn and contribute to a positive volunteering environment
  • Able to work independently as well as as part of a team

No experience needed — just enthusiasm for nature, outdoor work and learning traditional skills.

Flexible volunteering: Mondays and/or Thursdays, depending on what suits you. Full day or half day 10am - 4pm
