If you are a community, voluntary, faith organisation or social enterprise struggling to attract and retain volunteers, this workshop is for you.

Struggling to attract volunteers? Finding it hard to keep them engaged? Want better systems to support your volunteer team?

Tying in with Volunteers week earlier June 2026 we have partnered with North Herts & Stevenage CVS and GoVolHerts to support you to attract and retain more volunteers.

This practical, interactive 2.5‑hour in‑person workshop is designed to help VCFSE organisations in Broxbourne and East Herts strengthen the way they recruit, manage, and communicate with volunteers.

In small local charities, community groups, and social enterprises, volunteers are at the heart of everything. But volunteer expectations have changed — and so must our approaches. This workshop will give you the tools, insights, and confidence to build a volunteer experience that works for both your organisation and the people who support it.

During this hands‑on session, you will:

Understand the current volunteer landscape

Explore trends, challenges, and local insights affecting volunteer recruitment and retention today.

Create clear volunteer personas

Learn how to identify your ideal volunteers, what motivates them, and where to reach them.

Improve your volunteer messaging and communications

Develop targeted, compelling messages that attract the right volunteers through the right channels.

Map the full volunteer journey

From first contact to long‑term engagement, you’ll design a volunteer experience that feels supportive, welcoming, and consistent.

Strengthen your processes and systems

Discover simple, scalable tools for on boarding, communication, and volunteer management — even with limited time and capacity.

This session is ideal for:

  • Charities, community groups, CICs, social enterprises
  • Volunteer managers, coordinators, team leaders
  • Trustees or staff newly responsible for volunteers
  • Organisations struggling with recruitment or retention
  • Groups looking to refresh or professionalise their volunteer processes

No prior experience is required — the workshop is designed to support beginners as well as those wanting to refine existing practices.

By the end of the workshop, you will:

  • Have a clearer understanding of who your volunteers are
  • Know how to improve your communication and recruitment messages
  • Understand how volunteers move through your organisation
  • Have practical systems to better support and retain volunteers
  • Feel more confident and better equipped to grow your volunteer base

Who can attend

*Our free training workshop is only open to VCFSE Community Alliance member organisations operating in Broxbourne and East Herts districts. Membership is free. Please visit our website to become a free member.
