Background Information

We work with parents and children. For the purpose of this role, the individual would work with adults and children

All volunteers will be recruited through our robust Safe Recruitment policy, which includes due diligence checks, including referencing and relevant ID documentation to enable us to complete our recruitment formalities, to ensure that they are safe to work with vulnerable adults. All volunteers will be provided with a document confirming their appointment and as a valued volunteer, no salary or other remuneration is payable, save for out-of-pocket expenditure. All volunteers are subject to an Enhanced Data Barring Services Check prior to commencing any voluntary activities with the organisation. 


The Role

To provide a support space in which to guide parents and children in the use of the contact centre.

To receive clients to the centre, carry out required administration work i.e. signing in and signing out of each client.

To ensure each family has a safe, enjoyable contact.

To maintain the safety of the centre, including maintaining toys and the contact room.

The Volunteer must read, sign, and agree to WTW’s values and behaviours and policies and procedures which will be provided at the point of induction, including all reporting and sending of information securely. 

The Volunteer will be offered a suite of training free of charge by WTW to help build up their portfolio of knowledge and skills. 

The Volunteer will receive supervision from the Contact Centre coordinator or Deputy contact centre coordinator

Accountability and Reporting

The Volunteer will report to the member of staff on duty at the contact centre. 

The Volunteer will report all safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.

·        Ability to build relationships with families

·        Ability to deal with difficult situations particularly involving parents and children under stress

·        Team worker


Essential:

·        We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We require you to understand and demonstrate this commitment

·        Enhanced DBS Check and must be enrolled on DBS update service (WTW will undertake the Enhanced check and meet for the cost of this for the duration of your voluntary activities only)

·        2 references (ideally previous employers, or personal referee contact details, whom WTW can approach for a written reference)

·        Satisfactory interview (including review of CV)

·        Valid Clean Driving Licence

·        Access to your own car


Key attributes required:

·        Ability to recognise when to escalate and signpost onto WTW Management.

·        Demonstrate an understanding of the safe working practices that apply to this role.

·        Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children and young people
