Choose when you are available and then decide whether to accept a drive.
We are a volunteer group taking people to medical appointments. The only stipulation is that they are registered at Buntingford Medical centre. It’s generally people who can’t get there themselves - although sometimes they do drive but they can’t do because of the treatment they are having.
It’s basically a friendly transport service taking them, waiting there and bringing them home. You use your own vehicle and get petrol expenses. They pay a set fee in cash which you pass on to our Treasurer.
We have a transport coordinator, Val, who books people in and calls us as drivers to find someone who is free to do it. You can of course say that you’re not free. If you know beforehand it’s helpful to tell Val when you can drive for the next month, including days and times that you work, have other commitments, holidays, etc.
Any offers of help are very valuable- some of our drivers only do the occasional trip
