Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life.

Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life, and you might even learn a lot about yourself along the way.

Scouts can make you feel good in other ways too. We’ll guide you to an opportunity where you’ll:

  • Make friends and meet people
  • Try new things and challenge yourself
  • Get outdoors and get stuck in
  • Positively impact your community
  • Create vital opportunities for young people
  • Make memories that'll last a lifetime

If you can only occasionally help, that’s OK. Whether you’d like to be an activity planner, tea-maker or craft creator, we appreciate any time you can spare.

Getting there

About 1st Hertford Heath Scouts

1st Hertford Heath Scout Group helps young people discover skills for life. Our group comprises Beaver (6–8yrs) and Cub (8–10½yrs) sections that are energetic, welcoming, and rooted in our community—think campfire activities, hands‑on experiments, woodland adventures, and teamwork that boosts confidence. We’re looking for adult helpers to support our friendly leadership teams: no experience needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to have fun while making a real difference. You’ll get simple training, flexible roles to fit your schedule, and plenty of support—plus the buzz of seeing young people grow braver, kinder, and more curious each week. If you enjoy trying new things, meeting new people, and giving back locally, come lend a hand with Beavers or Cubs and help shape the next generation of do‑ers and give‑it‑a‑go‑ers.
